Golf Regulations 2020

2020 Golf Regulations

General

Welcome to the 2020 season at Mountain View Country Club!

Our golf course is open for play and we are operating in compliance with Vermont Governor Phil Scott’s “Stay Home/Stay Safe” Executive Order and related guidance.  Many of the procedures described below are new to us.  We greatly appreciate your patience and good will as we do our best to make them work for you.  As governmental guidance and best practices evolve, we will modify these procedures and post the revisions on our website (www.mvccvt.com), as well as on our Pro Shop bulletin board.

No written procedures can possibly address the full range of circumstances that may arise in the daily operation of a golf, tennis and social club.  We all must therefore follow a golden rule:

When in doubt, take the safer course of action!

MVCC “Stay Safe” Regulations

To comply with VT’s “Stay Home/Stay Safe”, MVCC has been required to change many things about the way MVCC has traditionally operated.  MVCC is issuing a series of written procedures to maintain a safe environment and to comply with the state of VT’s executive orders. The latest version of the new procedures for golf and tennis can be viewed by clicking these links  2020 Golf Regulations  and 2020 Tennis Regulations  Some of the highlights are:

1. All members, staff, and customers must become familiar with and abide by the new MVCC procedures and regulations.
2. Golf and tennis play is restricted to persons who have met, or are not subject to, the minimum 14-day self-quarantine requirement provided in the Executive Order 01-20 issued by VT Governor Scott.
3. Golf tee-times and motor carts must be reserved and paid for in advance of arriving at the club. Reservations and payments can be made by calling the Pro-Shop (533-7477). Members and permit holders can do so online by logging into ClubExpress.
4. Tee times will be every 15 minutes.  To maintain safe social distance between groups, please arrive on time for your reservation.

President’s Update

Greetings from Mountain View!

I hope that each of you and your families are keeping safe in the current COVID-19 crisis.  I’m writing to provide a brief update regarding our planning for Mountain View Country Club for the coming season.

On Wednesday, May 6, Vermont Governor Phil Scott issued Addendum 13 to his “Stay Home, Stay Safe” Executive Order.  The Addendum recognizes the importance of outdoor recreation and fitness activities and authorizes a number of those activities, including golf and tennis.  As a result, we plan to open Mountain View’s golf course on Saturday, May 16, and our tennis courts on Saturday, May 23, in each case subject to weather.

Due to the restrictions set out in the Governor’s Addendum and the related “Update 4” guidance issued by Vermont’s Agency of Commerce, as well as best practice guidance issued by various governing authorities for golf and tennis, we will be putting in place significant limitations on play, including:

Ladies Night 2019

45 fantastic women(!) gathered on August 7, 2019 to celebrate the 13th Annual Ladies Night at Mountain View.   Despite some damp weather outside, the evening was a resounding success – great fun and friendship for all who attended.  We all enjoyed the wonderful appetizers provided by Judy Dales and Whitney Sowles, dinner catered by the Craftsbury General Store, and dessert provided by Linda Ely.   Thanks to Karen Gowen for organizing the event, and to the entire crew of volunteers who set up, served and cleaned up on the night.

A special shout out as well to the originators of the event – Kathy Russotto, Patty Kreider, and Katy Woods – for starting this tradition 13 years ago.   It was a great idea then, and it’s a great idea now!
